MILITARY FAMILIES AT POINT FERMIN MSM!

We love our military families at Point Fermin Marine Science Magnet. We thank you for your service and want to partner with you to support your child.  Here are some resources to support you. 

Resource for Military-Connected Families in L.A. Area:

1. Military OneSource is a central location for service members and families to access variety of supportive services – www.militaryonesource.com or 800-342-9647.

2. Operation Purple Camp – summer camp programs that bring together children from military-connected families; contact Johnny McLaughlin @ 909-549-0164 for more information; website is http://www.militaryfamily.org/kids-operation-purple/camps/.

3. National Military Family Association is a great organization that offers a lot of useful information on their website (www.militaryfamily.org), and runs Operation Purple Camps.

4. Zero to Three – National Center for Infants, Toddlers and Families has a military project that offers lots of information and resources on how to support young military-connected children (www.zerotothree.org).

5. Sesame Street Workshop – the public television series created DVDs focused on helping military families manage deployments and other military-related stressors.  Families can get a free copy of this great resource at the Military OneSource website (www.militaryonesource.com)

6. F.O.C.U.S. – Families OverComing Under Stress is a family resilience training program that helps military-connected families better understand each other learn effective strategies for communication and managing stressors related to military-connected life.This program is offered through various LA DMH-connected community mental health agencies, and through the Nathanson Family Resilience Center at UCLA (https://nfrc.ucla.edu/FOCUS) .
